Cleaning

The following cleaning codes and maintenance recommendations apply to the textile only. Special finishes, flame resistant treatments or moisture barriers added to the product may change the textile’s cleaning code and cleanability.

Prior to cleaning, always pre-test first in an inconspicuous area. Do not saturate the textile as the upholstery filling materials may damage.

Disinfectant Cleaners

Architex conducts their performance fabric cleaning testing under the seven umbrellas of disinfectant cleaner families and does not test by individual cleaner. To note, all Architex disinfectant cleaner family testing is conducted in a lab with proper ratios and proper cleaning methods (including a water rinse) which may not necessarily reflect day to day maintenance within a facility. Before selecting any fabric, please determine what disinfectant cleaner family is utilized within the facility. Architex International is not responsible for determining the disinfectant cleaner family of a given cleaner brand.

Textile Cleaning and COVID-19

The EPA has declared their Emerging Pathogen Policy active for Covid-19. The EPA puts this in place when a new strain of a virus or bacteria presents itself. Under this policy, only EPA registered disinfectants that contain both the Human Coronavirus and SARS claim should be used to kill Covid-19. Alcohol at 70% or higher kills Covid-19 in hand sanitizers, but for hospital grade disinfection, it needs to be a hospital grade disinfection system that kills both Human Coronavirus and SARS.

Kill times vary from product to product – please check each manufacturing label accordingly.

  • UV-C light exposure times have not been established at this time.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing are required on all non-woven and
    woven textiles.
  • Cleaning and disinfecting are expected on vinyl and
    other non-porous surfaces.
  • Fogging of quaternary disinfectants creates the need for testing
    textile surfaces after application.
